Think of us as the Venmo of betting — combining seamless payments, a social interface, and the excitement of making predictions with people you know.

As we scale, we’re looking for a Backend Software Engineer to help evolve our Laravel monolith and lead the transition toward a distributed, service-oriented backend. This is a high-impact role at a high-growth startup with tons of potential and flexibility.

** We are a startup and cannot pay a FAANG salary...so, we are willing to give you equity in the company to compensate.** *** This can be a Part-Time or a Full-Time role. PT would eventually turn into FT ***

What You’ll Do

• Work with our core stack: PHP (Laravel) and Java (Spring Boot).
• Refactor and scale the monolithic codebase while progressively extracting microservices — starting with critical systems like bet matching and settlement.
• Build secure, scalable backend infrastructure in a highly regulated domain.
• Solve real-world challenges in distributed systems, horizontal scaling, and high-volume data flows.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to implement new features, including betting logic, wallet systems, and user flows.
• Own projects end-to-end — from design to deployment — with a mindset of speed and quality.

What We Look For:

The ideal candidate will have:

3+ years of backend engineering experience, ideally with Laravel and/or Spring Boot (or a willingness to learn both).

A strong understanding of distributed systems, concurrency, and scaling challenges.

A security-first mindset — especially in systems handling real money and bets.

A solid grasp of sports betting fundamentals — you should already know the difference between a spread, moneyline, and total.

A passion for sports and/or betting — this is a must. If you don’t live and breathe the space, this probably isn’t the right fit.

High motivation and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup — someone who’s not afraid to put in the hours and make things happen.

Drive, curiosity, and a desire to learn fast, take ownership, and grow with the company.
