About Tellen:

Tellen builds enterprise AI infrastructure that empowers accounting firms to deploy secure, compliant generative AI solutions for their employees and clients. We are transforming how audit, tax, and advisory professionals harness AI to improve efficiency, accuracy, and decision-making.

We are seeking a highly skilled engineer with a minimum of five years of full-stack development experience, a deep understanding of AI systems, and first-hand exposure to the accounting and/or finance industry.

Key Responsibilities:

Backend Development:

  • Advanced proficiency in Python (Flask) and Postgres, including testing, migrations, and optimizing database queries.
  • Experience designing and implementing secure, scalable API architectures.

Frontend Development:

  • Strong experience with React and TailwindCSS for building user-friendly interfaces.
  • Ability to translate Figma designs into pixel-perfect front-end implementations.

Cloud & AI Infrastructure:

  • Proficiency in Azure, including infrastructure-as-code, security best practices, and GitHub Actions for CI/CD.
  • Hands-on experience integrating LLMs, RAG mechanisms, and agentic AI systems into real-world applications.
  • Knowledge of Document Intelligence AI and other automation tools for data extraction and structuring.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Accounting/Finance Industry Insight: Experience working with audit, tax, or financial professionals and an understanding of their workflows and AI use cases.
  • AI Expertise: Experience building AI-driven products, particularly RAG architectures, custom LLM applications, and autonomous agentic workflows.
  • Agility & Prioritization: Ability to focus on high-impact features first, iterating quickly while maintaining quality.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal skills. A video walkthrough of a past AI or full-stack project is highly encouraged in your application.
  • Architectural Input: Capable of making scalable design decisions, balancing speed and long-term maintainability.

Flexible Hiring Arrangement:

We prefer to bring new talent on board as consultants for 10-15 hours per week as a mutual evaluation period before transitioning to a full-time role. This allows us to assess fit without the need for coding challenges or algorithm tests.

Preferred Background:

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, or Computer Science (preferred but not required).
  • At least five years of experience in software engineering, with significant work in AI and full-stack development.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive salary and equity options.
  • Flexible work arrangements, including remote work capabilities.
  • Mentorship & career growth—budget allocated for personal and professional development.
  • Comprehensive health benefits or a healthcare stipend.
